About Me

Michelle Attwell

I'm Michelle Attwell

Welcome to my website! I am a Traumatologist who specialises in supporting individuals on their journey towards healing from trauma and finding their way back to self.

With an Advanced Diploma in Traumatology, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to my practice.

Beyond my professional identity, I am also a wife and a proud mother to a teenage daughter. My family is my anchor, providing me with love, support, and a constant reminder of the importance of connection and understanding.

When I’m not immersed in my work, I find solace and inspiration connecting to spirit, music, creativity, reading and restoring old pieces of furniture.  All of these have a profound impact on my well-being, allowing me to recharge and nourish my soul. I firmly believe that self-care is essential for anyone, especially those who dedicate themselves to helping others.

From a young age, I have been driven by a deep passion to facilitate positive change in people’s lives. As I grew older, this passion naturally evolved into a desire to incorporate it into my professional career. It was in 2006, during my time as an HR manager in Johannesburg, that Traumatology found me through a colleague.

I was immediately captivated by the holistic approach of Traumatology, which encompasses the Body, Mind, and Soul aspects of healing. This approach resonated with me on a deep level, and I knew I had discovered the foundation for my work. Since then, I have dedicated myself to continuously expanding my knowledge and skills in trauma counselling, striving to provide the most effective and compassionate support to my clients.

I am honoured to walk alongside individuals on their healing journey, offering a safe space for exploration, growth, and transformation. Together, we can navigate the complexities of trauma and work towards reclaiming a sense of empowerment and well-being. If you’re ready to embark on this transformative path, I am here to support you every step of the way.

Why I chose Traumatology

I have chosen traumatology as my profession because it allows me to combine my passion for healing and my diverse background in alternative therapies. Throughout my career, I have explored the realms of herbal medicine, Bach flower remedies, and homeopathic remedies, which have provided me with a unique perspective on holistic healing.  By embracing various techniques and incorporating alternative therapies, I can provide holistic care that addresses the unique needs of each person.

By facilitating and supporting their integration, I aim to help them live more wholeheartedly. This journey encompasses not only the physical and psychological aspects but also the spiritual dimension of the human being, which is an integral part of my work.

I am committed to making a difference in the lives of those who have experienced trauma, and traumatology provides me with the tools and opportunities to do so.

Trauma is not what happens to you.  Trauma is what happens inside you as a result of what happened to you.
